SHSMD’s Award for Individual Professional Excellence is the highest honor the Society can bestow on one of its members.

SHSMD President-elect Christine Gallery presented the award to Schiller at the Society’s Annual Conference in San Diego.

Schiller leads marketing, public relations, community relations, and governmental affairs efforts for UNC Health Care, Rex Healthcare, and several affiliate hospitals in the UNC system. She also directs branding and advertising strategies while developing community and government relations initiatives for Rex Healthcare.  During her tenure, Lisa has led strategic campaigns for the hospitals, resulting in enhanced consumer awareness, brand position, and digital media engagement.

She has contributed to Rex Healthcare garnering numerous national and state-wide awards, including “Best Employers in North Carolina” from Business North Carolina, “100 Great Hospitals” from Becker’s Hospital Review, and “America’s 50 Best Hospitals” from Healthgrades.

For SHSMD’s 2013 Annual Conference, Schiller served as Public Relations & Communications track leader and Roundtable discussion leader. In addition to SHSMD, she lends her leadership expertise to local civic organizations.  A member of the Executive Women's Forum in Raleigh and Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, Schiller shares her insight on how organizations or the city can more effectively market themselves.  She is a former board member of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina and currently serves on the Holt Brothers Foundation board.

Today, SHSMD also awarded its Rising Star Award to Elizabeth Harvill of Meadows Regional Medical Center (Vidalia, Ga.) and Laura Pickens of St. Bernards Healthcare (Jonesboro, Ark.).  The Rising Star Award recognizes outstanding young strategy professionals under the age of 40.
