SHSMD Releases Bridging Worlds: The Future Role of the Healthcare Strategist

New tool for health care leaders to address the hospital field’s transformation

Chicago (January 29, 2015) — The Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development (SHSMD) has released the innovative report Bridging Worlds: The Future Roll of the Healthcare Strategist.

Bridging Worlds illuminates the tools, resources, skills and attributes needed by strategic leaders, now and in the future,” stated Rich Umbdenstock, president and CEO, American Hospital Association.

Developed in association with HDR, a design and research firm, and with input from strategic thought leaders within and outside of health care, Bridging Worlds begins with a review of the emerging health care landscapes and identifies five key steps for action. They are:

  • Be nimble to exceed the rate of change
  • Tell stories, create experiences
  • Integrate and co-create
  • Erase boundaries of business
  • Generate data-driven insight

Each step includes practical takeaways, examples outside of health care, and a series of roadmaps suggesting the attributes, skills and tools needed to help health care leaders and their organizations strategize for the coming years.
