Strategy to Execution for Health Care Planners
April 16–27, 2018 | 24/7 Access
As the health care industry continues to exceed the rate of change, organizations must find new ways to bring strategy and vision to execution. Historically, organizations have experienced a significant gap in strategic performance due to a disconnect between strategy formulation and execution. Those that are successful have realized that effective strategy execution requires cascading corporate strategy in a way that aligns executives, business units, and employees to common goals. Additionally, having an approach and infrastructure to adapt and test the strategy becomes even more important to stay relevant and plan for changing competition.
The Office of Strategy Management (OSM) can provide health care organizations with the structure required to achieve strategic goals. The OSM oversees all strategy related activities under one corporate unit and facilitates these processes in an integrated fashion. The OSM can also serve as the accelerator, facilitator and integrator for strategic planning, scenario planning, and performance management. In 2016, leadership at Carolinas HealthCare System decided to create an OSM to serve as the central hub for overall strategy, and to be the incubator for a variety of key initiatives throughout the organization.
Two leaders within the Carolinas HealthCare System OSM will share best practices for implementing an OSM within your organization. Material will be presented on successful approaches to create an OSM and gain executive level buy-in, and provide an overview of the role the OSM serves in accelerating strategy. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn best practices in staffing and positioning the OSM for success.
