Today more than ever, your growth, market position, mission, and future are critically dependent on the strategies and alignment your hospital achieves related to physicians. But the business-to-business relationships between hospitals, medical groups, and physicians are more complicated than ever. This session will introduce approaches to involving and engaging physicians that will help you to achieve business development targets and produce better results. It will provide a tool-based approach to evaluating and planning different alignment strategy options, including joint ventures, participating bond transactions, comanagement agreements, physician employment, and clinical institute development, among others.

  • Better understand the factors associated with developing physician alignment and physician-related strategies.
  • Evaluate different processes, alignment options, models, and income considerations to advance physician engagement and partnership.
  • Use the recently released Physician Planning Template and Evaluation Tool developed through SHSMD’s Physician Strategies and Resource Development Committee.
  • Apply lessons learned from case studies involving a leading hospital and a medical group provider.
  • Further develop your toolkit of physician strategies and actions to consider and deploy in your organization.
