We realize that is no small task, and that’s why we need your assistance in spreading the word about the many benefits of SHSMD membership. How to Recruit
As an Ambassador, your mission – should you choose to accept it – is to help the SHSMD membership grow by sharing the many benefits of membership with your peers and colleagues. When reaching out to prospects, we suggest that you re-purpose these ambassador tools and then follow up via telephone or in a face-to-face meeting.
Rules and Eligibility
Any active SHSMD member may become a Member Ambassador. Prospective members can apply for SHSMD membership online and submit payment. In the application, the section marked “referred by” should include the referring Ambassador’s name, city, and state. After processing, the referring Ambassador will receive written confirmation from our membership department and will then be entered and eligible for Ambassador prizes.
Prizes and Recognition
Each time a SHSMD Ambassador recruits a member, his/her name will go into a quarterly prize drawing. Each quarter SHSMD will randomly select an Ambassador who will receive one (1) $100 American Express Gift Card. Ambassadors are not limited in how many new members they may recruit.
SHSMD will also recognize Ambassadors in various print and online publications, as well as at the 2008 Annual Conference in San Francisco

Who can participate in SHSMD’s Membership Ambassador Program?
Any active SHSMD member can participate in this program as long as his/her dues are current.
How do I know if my friend or colleague is already a member?
Log onto the SHSMD member directory to verify if your associate is a SHSMD member. You may also contact our membership department at 312.422.3888 and our staff will be happy to find the information for you.
What if the member I recruit was previously an SHSMD member?
As long as that person is not a current SHSMD member, that person can be recruited.
What if the person I recruit forgets to put my name in the “referred by” space on the membership application?
No problem. If you do not receive written confirmation from SHSMD within 2-4 weeks, contact the SHSMD membership department and provide the following information: the new member’s name, city and state, as well as your SHSMD member number. Once we verify that this prospect has joined, SHSMD will then place your name in the next quarterly prize drawing.
