In December 2007, the IRS released a revised Form 990. The revision includes Schedule H, which hospitals must use to report their community benefit activities and other tax-exemption related information. The Form 990 is a very public document and it is becoming more public. Today an organization’s Form 990 for the past three years must be shown to anyone who wants to see them including community members, policy makers, the media, and consumer advocates.
