Environmental assessment helps health care leaders plan for the future
Chicago (January 29, 2015) — The Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development (SHSMD) has released the latest edition of its highly respected environmental assessment—Futurescan 2015: Healthcare Trends and Implications 2015–2020.
In Futurescan 2015, an expert panel addresses eight key issues shaping the current and future landscape of health care, offering their insight as to what implications these issues pose for hospital leaders. An essential tool for strategic planning, Futurescan 2015 examines:
- Developing more cost-effective delivery systems (Stuart Altman, PhD, and Robert Mechanic)
- Seizing opportunities for transparency (Joseph Fifer)
- Addressing the decline in reimbursement (Jeff Goldsmith, PhD)
- Choosing a strategy for value-based competition (John Harris and Bonnie Frazier)
- Achieving effective ambulatory-hospital integration (Michael Hochman, MD)
- Gauging the impact of private insurance exchanges (Gunjal Khanna, PhD, and Shubham Singhal)
- Implementing advanced care planning (Jeffrey Thompson, MD)
- Adopting individualized medicine (Eric Topol, MD)
“Futurescan 2015 deftly captures the forces of change in the health care field and provides expert insight on how leaders can respond to this change,” said SHSMD President Christine Gallery.
SHSMD has published Futurescan annually, in collaboration with the American College of Healthcare Executives, since 1999. The topical articles in Futurescan 2015 are supported by data from a survey of 496 health care leaders across the country.
