  1. Build a list of  relationships you would like to establish inside/outside the organization and pursue them one at a time.
  2. Be friendly and make authentic connections. Send thank you notes and communication after meetings.
  3. Ask people questions, be genuinely interested in them.
  4. Accept people the way they are.
  5. Assume people want to form relationships.
  6. Overcome your fear of rejection.
  7. Listen and withhold judgment.
  8. Ask a friend/mentor to help make an introduction.
