SHSMD Announces Leadership Excellence Award and 2020 Class of Rising Stars Recipients


CHICAGO, Ill., September 9, 2020 – The Society for Health Care Strategy & Market Development (SHSMD) of the American Hospital Association has announced that Linda MacCracken, a senior principal in Accenture Health and adjunct lecturer on healthcare marketing at Harvard University has been named the recipient of its 2020 Leadership Excellence Award. SHSMD is a professional membership of the American Hospital Association for health care marketers, communicators, planners and business developers.

Society Board President Holly Sullivan, senior director of marketing strategy at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, MI, said, “Linda has worked tirelessly to improve the health care field as a senior principal at Accenture and an adjunct professor at Harvard. She has provided ongoing volunteer leadership in a variety of roles and has demonstrated excellence and leadership in our profession.”

MacCracken commented, “It’s an honor to receive this prestigious distinction from the SHSMD, an organization whose mission in helping its members stay at the forefront of the healthcare’s rapidly evolving landscape has greatly influenced my career. I dedicate this award to the healthcare heroes, my colleagues and the entire healthcare community that are serving the frontlines every day.”

SHSMD also announced the membership of the SHSMD 2020 Class of Rising Stars. The Rising Star designation recognizes health care strategy professionals under the age of 40 who have demonstrated outstanding promise in their respective fields.

  • Sienna Cashin, account supervisor at Fahlgren Mortine.
  • Terri Flood, vice president of business development at Wayne HealthCare .
  • Alisha Katz, marketing manager at University of Florida Health.
  • Mitchell Shusteris, senior marketing manager at Atlantic Health System.
  • Stacey Sunday, manager of communications and public affairs at Renown Health.

Sullivan commented, “We always draw inspiration and hope from seeing young leaders emerge and knowing the future of health care strategy is in good hands. These young leaders were doing exceptional work before COVID and during the crisis, they doubled down on supporting health care providers and helping keep communities safe in every possible way.”
